Scope and methodology
A family combines the reported value of all its filing entities. Securities count each class on the filer's latest 13F-HR.
Values are the market values filers report on SEC Form 13F-HR for the latest quarter, not our estimate. A family (for example Vanguard) sums its filing entities; its chart on the institution page shows the primary filer's history.
Securities are counted as reported. Institution pages group the share classes of one issuer into positions, so their count can be lower. # is the position in the chosen order. Sorting by value, securities or name orders every institution (All) or every entry of the category (a category tab), then pages through it.
Categories are editorial and not exhaustive. Index & ETF and Hedge fund are hand-curated lists; Value investor lists only firms whose own site or SEC filings describe a value approach (each links its source); Bank & trust adds filers whose name reads as a bank or trust company, marked Name match. An entry is a single filer or a combined family. Other filers read No category assigned.
